What is this Test?

The Gut Barrier Panel by KBMO Diagnostics is a specialized blood test that checks if your gut lining is healthy or "leaky."

It measures specific proteins and immune responses to see if toxins and undigested food are escaping from your digestive tract into your bloodstream, which causes inflammation.

The 4 Markers It Measures

The test looks for four specific signs of gut damage:

  • Zonulin: A protein that controls the doors of your gut lining. High levels mean the doors are stuck open.

  • Occludin: The physical walls that hold your gut cells together. Antibodies here mean the walls are breaking down.

  • LPS (Lipopolysaccharides): Toxins from gut bacteria. Finding these in your blood proves your gut is leaking.

  • Candida: A yeast that can overgrow and punch physical holes through your intestinal wall.

Who is this Test For?

Chronic Digestive Issues: People struggling with persistent bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation, especially when standard gastrointestinal workups come back normal.

  • Suspected Leaky Gut: Anyone showing signs of intestinal permeability, where a compromised gut lining allows food particles and toxins to enter the bloodstream.

  • Autoimmune Patients: Individuals diagnosed with or showing early signs of autoimmune diseases (like Celiac, Hashimoto's, or Rheumatoid Arthritis), as a leaky gut is often a primary trigger for these conditions.

  • Systemic Inflammatory Symptoms: People dealing with "whole-body" symptoms that seem unrelated to digestion, such as chronic brain fog, unexplained fatigue, joint pain, or headaches.

  • Unresolved Skin Conditions: Patients dealing with stubborn skin issues like eczema, psoriasis, acne, or chronic hives that fail to clear up with topical treatments.

  • Food Sensitivity Sufferers: Individuals who seem to react to an increasing number of foods and want to know if a damaged gut lining is the underlying cause.

What Does it Measure?

The KBMO Food Inflammation Test (FIT) identifies food sensitivities, systemic inflammation, and intestinal permeability. It is not used to diagnose allergies. Instead, it tests for delayed IgG immune responses and complement activation (C3d) to pinpoint foods and additives driving chronic symptoms
